"I Really Do Hate Being Cold" a Winter card for Smeared Ink DT!

Howzit Friends!
I'm my holidays at the mo so hopefully blogger cooperated and this post went out as scheduled ;0)

Smeared Ink released a new image called "It Could Be" last week that I could not resist playing with!  Cold weather and snow and I just do not go well together, LOL, and I knew I wanted to convey my feelings on the subject with this creation especially when I saw the word HATE was incorporated into the design!  Doesn't it look like she's been strangled by freezing cold hands...brrrrr!

I started out by working with the image in Photoshop CS6 and used one of Smeared Ink's "Honour the Dead" digi papers for the background.  I added the text and the frame and printed it out onto heavy weight cardstock suitable for Copic markers then trimmed the cardstock and made a folded card.   I coloured the image with Copics, outlined the text with a black Copic Multiliner and used a white gel pen to make the words pop a bit more before applying Judikins Diamond Glaze to the text, her eyes and lips.  To make it even more frosty I embellished the card with snowflake buttons.

Happy Holidays Everyone, stay warm and safe!

Here's my Smeared Ink Design Team creation for this week :0)

Smeared and Smudged have implemented some other changes starting Dec 1st and we bid farewell to the Design Team Throwdown too.  We had a blast while it lasted and the Smeared Ink DT were the last to win so we went out with a bang, YAY ;0)  I created this Creepmas Candle with the theme we had planned to challenge the teams with for the next round, "Undead Parchment".

I used Smeared Ink's American Gothic image from their Zombie Classics digi set, printed it out and coloured it with Copic markers.  I then proceeded to create my faux parchment effect... I tore the image to fit the candle size, 8" tall, so the edges are tatty and scrunched up the paper to add creases.  Then covered the entire panel with Tea Dye Distress Ink in varying degrees of light and dark application.  To make it a Creepmas candle I added snowflake eyelets down both edges and laced up the candle sleeve with burgundy ribbon.

Thank you for visiting with me today!  Don't forget my current DominoART challenge is still open and it's an Any Game Goes with Any Theme, so dig out your bag of miscellaneous game pieces and come and play with us!  DominoART's 12 Days of Xmas Festival sponsored by Delicious Doodles is underway and the 12 Days of Creepmas blog hop with Smeared and Smudged is too... it's going to be creepy good fun so I hope you'll join us and snag some prizes a long the way ;0)

"Yellow Daisies in Her Hair" Zentangle Card + Smudgy Antics Blog Change!

Good morning Friends!
It's week 2 already of our new "Anything Goes" challenge over at Smudgy Antics!  First some news on a change that will take place once this challenge ends!

The Anything Goes challenge will be the last one on the Smudgy Antics blog.  Once it ends and the winner announced on Dec 1 the blog will be discontinued and all future Smudgy Antics Challenges will move over to the Smeared and Smudged Forum in order to keep all our awesome challenges available in one spot.  The Smudgy Antics Challenges will become "Anything Goes" all the time and can be found in "The Challenger" group on the forum and we will continue to offer a prize from the Smeared Ink shop!

The Forum is FREE TO JOIN and everyone is welcome!  There's more than just the Smudgy Antics challenges going on at the Forum where you can network and socialize with other stampers.  Learn cool techniques in the newly revised Mixed-Media University, discover how to craft on the cheap in the Cheapskate Crafter group and express your feelings through art in the Art Journal Everyday group.  There are many other challenges offered, with prizes, as well as monthly member blog hops, mostly ATC swaps, a Birthday Club and so much more!

Now back to Week 2 of Anything Goes!  Here's my project to help inspire you to come and play with us ;0)

April this year I shared a Zentangle card called "The Girl with Daisies in her Hair" and now I'm back to share another card I made taking my Zentangle version of Smeared Ink's Girl 3 image from the Hidden set further.  Zentangles don't just have to be black and white with some pencil shading, they can be colourful too!

See my original post for all the deets on the black and white version.  I decorated the girl's hair with my 'daisies' variation of the Nzeppel Zentangle then added the Hollibaugh Zentangle in all 4 corners.  I used Copics to colour the image in yellows, blues and greens.

I used my Perfect Layers tool #1 and #2 to trim leaving a 1/8" border of white cardstock then adhered the panel to black cardstock with Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive and cut the black mat leaving a 3/16" border.

I made a folding card from white cardstock and adhered two pieces of decorative paper to it with a strip of yellow daisy ribbon covering the seam.  I then embellished the card with white and black self-adhesive pearls, paper flowers with white button brads in the centers and Spellbinders die cut leaves.  I also decorated the inside, but that's a secret for now teehee, and made a matching envelope with a stamped message (Studio G) in jet black Archival Ink.

Thank you for visiting with me today and I hope you'll come and play in our Smudgy Antics challenges and I'll see you over at DominoART too!  My current DominoART challenge is also an Any Game Goes with Any Theme, so dig out your bag of miscellaneous game pieces and come and play with us!  Christmas is just around the corner and so is my DominoART's 12 Days of Xmas Festival sponsored by Delicious Doodles!  Mark your calendars and stop by starting Dec 1st and oooh and aaaah over all the festive altered game art created by my Merry Players!   Plus Dec 1st also kicks off the 12 Days of Creepmas blog hop with Smeared and Smudged, it's going to be creepy good fun so I hope you'll join us and snag some prizes a long the way ;0)

'Valkyries' Luminary Card for Smudgy Antics 'Anything Goes' Challenge!

Good morning to you all!
It's week 1 of our new "Anything Goes" challenge over at Smudgy Antics!  We know you love these so we should see lots of fabulous entries over the next 2 weeks ;0)  Here's my project to get your Muse going!

"Valkyries"
A Luminary Card

I had a ball creating this card with an unexpected twist!  I love making interactive creations and being able to add real light to a card is loads of fun.  I used this gorgeous digi image called "The Valkyries" by Smeared Ink and printed it out onto Neenah Solar White cardstock and coloured it with Copic markers.  The edges were distressed with Tim's Paper Distresser tool and then the background was created with a combo of Burnt Umber Pastel Pencil blended with Dove blender pen and Pumice Stone and Black Soot Distress Ink.

I fussy cut out the center with an Xacto knife and adhered a Quality Street blue cellophane sweet (candy) wrapper over the hole.  The decorative mat is one of Smeared Ink's digi papers from the Honour the Dead set and I cut a circle out of it before adhering the image to it and did the same again before adhering everything to the black card.  Both mats were cut with my Perfect Paper Layers tool and an Xacto knife (I haven't got the measurements I used with me at the mo so will update my post later today).

The effect with the flameless candle standing behind the card is so beautiful and I especially love my candles with the timer so it comes on and off again all by itself ;0)

Christmas is just around the corner and so is my DominoART's 12 Days of Xmas Festival!

"Fire" and "Ice" Elemental Cards for Smudgy Antics!

Howzit Friends!
Happy Monday to you, I hope you all had a great weekend :0)

It's now week 2 of Smudgy Antics current challenge "Fire and Ice" and I'm sharing two cards I made using Smeared Ink's October exclusive Rubber Club set called Elementals.

"Fire" was stamped onto watercolour paper with Fired Brick Distress Ink and the colouring created by applying water to the inked image.  I blended Tea Dye and Black Soot Distress Ink to give the burnt look and took it one step further by actually burning the top edge of the image after I fussy cut it out.  I also added Diamond Stickles glitter glue to give the image a 'hot' glimmer of light.  The background paper is also from Smeared Ink, they now carry an awesome range of digi papers, this one is from the Vintage Grunge set!

"Ice" was created in the same way but this time I used Distress Ink Peacock Feathers for the stamping and watercolour effect and applied Shaded Lilac to the edges of the fussy cut out image.  I used Icicle Stickles glitter glue to give the image the frosty glimmer and for the "Ice" element I applied Distress Crackle Clear Rocky Candy paint to everywhere except her face and shoulder.  The background paper is from Smeared Ink's Honour the Dead set!

Both background papers were distressed with Tim's Paper Distresser tool before being adhered to black card which was then also distressed.  I embellished both with colour coordinating ribbons, paper flowers, brads and bling.  I hope I've inspired you to create some Fire and Ice projects of your own and look forward to seeing your creations over at Smudgy Antics!

Before you go I just want to remind you about DominoART's challenges too!  The current one is Any Game Goes with Any Theme!  If you've been wanting to try your hand at some altered game art then this is the perfect challenge to get your feet wet so dig out your bag of miscellaneous game pieces and come and play with us!

"Fire" Domino Pendant for Smudgy Antics Challenge "Fire and Ice"!

Howzit Friends!
I hope you all had a spooktacular Halloween!
We sure did over at DominoART with our 31 Days of Halloween Scarefest and blog hop with Smeared and Smudged!  I'm announcing the winners on Tuesday so stop by and check out all the spooktacular altered game art and see who snapped up the 3 fabulous prizes!

"Fire"Domino Pendant

I've got one of my "Sharpie Domino Queen" creations to share with you today for week one of Smudgy Antics new challenge "Fire and Ice"!  I used a Rick St Dennis image from Smeared Ink's exclusive Rubber Club set called "Morte".

I stamped a portion of the image onto a super-sized white domino and used Sharpie markers in my signature "Sharpie Domino Queen" style to colour the image and create a background that looks like flames.  The surface was sealed with Triple Thick gloss sealer and once dry I applied a coat of Inkssentials Matte Accents to give the stamped image a dimensional effect and added a touch of diamond glitter glue to the candle flames.  I used a DecoColor metallic gold paint pen to edge the domino before applying Tim Holtz Idea-ology script paper tape to the sides.  To make the pendant I adhered the sun bail to the front of the domino instead of the back and added a burgundy sued cord and jewelry findings to make the necklace.

Now we've got Christmas to look forward too, YAY!  I'm still needing a few more sign ups for my Merry Players list for DominoART's 12 Days of Xmas Festival and I'm also taking sign ups in advance for DominoART's 15 Days of Terror for May 2014 which is when we celebrate Half-O-Ween ;0)  Click the links above for more deets on both events!  My new DominoART challenge started November 1st too, Any Game Goes with Any Theme, so dig out your bag of miscellaneous game pieces and come and play with us!
Thank you for visiting with me today and I hope you'll come and play in our Smudgy Antics challenges and I'll see you over at DominoART too!

"I'm Dying to See You" digi creation for Smudgy Antics Colour Challenge!

Howzit Friends!
Can you believe we're into the last week of October already!  The Witching Hour will soon be upon us but then that means my DominoART 31 Days of Halloween Scarefest with Smeared and Smudged is nearly over, Boooooo!  Now we've got Christmas to look forward too, YAY!  I'm still needing a few more sign ups for my Merry Players list for DominoART's 12 Days of Xmas Festival and I'm also taking sign ups in advance for DominoART's 15 Days of Terror for May 2014 which is when we celebrate Half-O-Ween ;0)  Click the links above for more deets on both events and come and play with us!

"I'm Dying to See You"

Now for my Smeared Ink design team project for today.  It's week 2 of our current Smudgy Antics "Colour Challenge"!  We challenge you to create using at least three of these colours.

Last week I used all 5 colours on my Doctor Who inspired Creepmas card, Killer Style and for this week I did the same but went all out digital and designed and coloured the entire piece in Photoshop CS6!  I used Smeared Ink's gorgeous digi stamp called Rusalka, combined two of their digi papers from the Creepy Tree set for my background and the senti is from their Death Cab digi set!  I had such fun but boy did it take a long time!  Trust me, it is way easier and much faster to colour with Copics or coloured pencils on real paper!  Here's a closer look at Rusalka.

Thank you for visiting with me today and I hope you'll come and play in our Smudgy Antics challenges and I'll see you over at DominoART too!  My new D'ART challenge starts November 1st and it's a fan favourite - Any Game Goes, so dig out your bag of miscellaneous game pieces and come and play with us!

"Killer Style" Doctor Who inspired Creepmas card for Smudgy Antics ;0)

Howzit Friends!
Our new Smudgy Antics challenge today is a "Colour Challenge"!  For the next 2 weeks we challenge you to create using at least three of these colours.  The Smeared Ink DT has provided lots of spooktacular inspiration and here's my DT piece for you to check out :0)  I used all 5 colours in my creation!

Just a quick reminder that I'm having a huge 31 Days of Halloween Scarefest right now over on my DominoART blog.  DominoART teamed up with the Smeared and Smudged blog hop so we're celebrating the countdown to Halloween in spooktacular style so pop over and join us for the chance to win some awesome prizes!

"Killer Style"

If you're a Whovian, aka a fan of Doctor Who, then you'll completely understand where I was going with this one!  The 2012 Doctor Who Christmas Special was all about the Doctor and Clara defeating killer Snowmen and a few years ago the Doctor and Rose were attacked by a killer Christmas tree.  So here's an episode where the duo had to deal with killer snowmen and skeleton soldiers and only guns did the trick even though the Doctor loathes the use of them...just another day in the world of Doctor Who and I love it LOL!

I'm featuring the two new November Smeared Ink's exclusive Rubber Club sets.
Set 1 is Chicks Dig Guns and Set 2 created by Rick St Dennis is Dark Holidaze.  Come and join our Rubber Club and you can get your gimme hands on either of these sets or both!

I started out by stamping the images with Memento Tuxedo Black on to white cardstock designed for using Copic or similar markers on and it has a gorgeous shimmer to it but for the life of me I can't remember what it's called.  The shimmer gives my Creepmas piece the right amount of Christmasy sparkle for my rather dark theme.  All the images were coloured with Copcis and white highlights added with a gelly roll pen.  The creepmas zombie hoard was die cut out with a Wonky Square Quickutz die and matted onto black cardstock.  The gun chick was fussy cut out.  Both were distressed with Tim's Paper Distresser tool and aged with Tea Dye Distress Ink.  The burnt orange background paper is one of Smeared Ink's new digi papers from the Creepy Tree digital paper pack.  I removed the large tree in Photoshop CS6 and then stretched out the remaining design to create my background paper which I printed out and distressed and aged too.

I used my Perfect Paper Layer tools to cut the 1/8 and 1/4 inch mats from black cardstock and decorative grey cardstock.  I used my new Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations Alphabet Sizzlit called Spooktacular to die cut out the letters from black cardstock with Xyron permanent adhesive added and applied gold flecked black glitter glue to them, I also added a touch of glitter to the orange background mat too.  I added skull ribbon, a grey button with green thread and black rhinestone embellies and the gun chick was adhered with Create & Craft dimensional silicone glue.

Thank you for visiting with me today and I hope you'll come and play in our Smudgy Antics challenges and I'll see you over at DominoART...come and play in my upcoming 12 Days of Xmas Festival too!

"Lil Pumpkin Grumpie" Kid's Halloween Card for Smudgy Antics!

Howzit Friends!
It's week 2 of our "Smeared Ink Images Only" Challenge over at Smudgy Antics and here's my DT creation for your inspiration!

Just a quick reminder that I'm having a huge 31 Days of Halloween Scarefest right now over on my DominoART blog which is also taking part in the Smeared and Smudged blog hop!  Come and join us for the chance to win some awesome prizes!

I made this Halloween card for my nephew, I think he's going to love the adorable Lil Grumpie monster that's peeking out of that pumpkin don't you think!  My Wicked Witch doll from the "The Great and Powerful Oz" movie is keeping her evil eye on things to make sure Grumpie gets up to no good when we're not looking...bwahahahaha!

The rubber stamps are all from Smeared Ink's exclusive Rubber Club sets.
Lil Pumpkin Grumpie, Trick or Treat and Happy Halloween text - Halloween Grumpies set
Ravens - Holy City set

I stamped the lil Grumpie onto the haunted house cardstock with Memento Onxy Black ink first so that I didn't loose all the curly tendril details in the image.  I then stamped the grumpie 3 more times onto Neenah Solar White cardstock and fussy cut them all out.  Everything was coloured with Copic markers and then I fussy cut out the sections I wanted to use to build my 3D image.  I curved the two pumpkin sections and adhered everything with a 3D adhesive so that they would retain their dimension.

The haunted house and the Foiled Pumpkins - DCWV The Midnight Spell matstack,
Memento Onyx Black ink pad, Copic Markers , Black Soot Distress Ink pad, Spellbinders Tombstone die, Orange cardstock, cream card blank, Marvy corner punch, Dimensional adhesive,
Perfect Layers tool to cut the 1/4" orange mat border, Black cobweb netting (Walmart) and
Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive

Thank you for visiting with me today and I hope you'll come and play in our Smudgy Antics challenges and I'll see you over at DominoART!

Beyond The Haunting - Altered Bird House for the Smeared and Smudged Design Team Throwdown

Howzit Friends!
I've got another "Dark Etchnings" altered bird house to share with you today.
This one is a follow on piece from my other altered bird house "Haunted Within" which symbolized being trapped by fear inside your own mind and now "Beyond the Haunting" symbolizes breaking free of the fear and escaping the demons inside your mind.

Beyond the Hauting
UPDATE:  Smeared Ink WON round #9 Woohoo!  Congrat to Tori, Terra and ME :0)

 photo throwdownskelewinnerbutton9_zpsca7fbebf.jpg

This one is my entry into the Smeared and Smudged Design Team Throwdown for Challenge #9.  The winners of challenge #8 gave us our theme, Metal Mania.  Please stop by and check out all the design teams vying for your vote in this round and cast your vote for the team you think should win!  I hope you like my creation and my Smeared Ink team mates, you can see their creations HERE and will vote for Smeared Ink of course, heehee, voting starts Sept 27 at noon, click the banner below to go and check out all the entries ;0)

Click on the banner to go and vote!
I played with my faux print etchning technique and featured Smeared Ink's digi stamp "Beyond" and wings from "Quoth the Raven" stamps - Smeared Ink Rubber Club and also added some purple watercolour pencil to the lips and eye areas.

I covered the wooden bird house with Ranger Ink's adhesive metal sheeting and scored seams and rivets into the metal with a dry embossing ball tool.  Black Alcohol Ink was then applied and wiped off leaving the ink inside all the nooks and crannies.  Exposed wood was stained with Black Soot Distress Ink and diamond patterned washi tape was added to all the edges.  The base was a separate wooden candle holder I adhered to the birdhouse.

I applied Rock Candy Crackle Paint to the base of the birdhouse and Pewter Metalic Distress Stain applied randomly to the rough surface with scrunched up paper towel.  Assorted gears by Found Objects Charms from Michaels and washers from Home Depot were adhered with Judikins Diamond Glaze.  The images were run through my Xyron to add adhesive,  fussy cut out and adhered to the birdhouse with real feathers added to the roof as well.

The tiny bird was a resin multi-coloured hanging ornament I got from Target a few years ago in the after Xmas sales.  I painted it with black acrylic paint and then dry brushed it with silver and antique gold acrylic paint and then adhered it to the perch with Diamond Glaze.

Thanks for visiting with me today and hope you'll stop by the Throwdown and cast your vote for the design team most worthy of winning!  Also stop by the Smudgy Antics challenge blog too, our new challenge "Broken Heart" started on Monday so you've got plenty of time to come and play with us!

Before you go I'd like to invite you to come over to DominoART and check out my upcoming 31 Days of Halloween event!  DominoART is participating as a Wicked Blogger in the Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween blog hop and I will be featuring scary altered game art for 31 days!  I'd love it if you'd come and join my Wicked Players for a scarey good time and a chance at some awesome prizes ;0)
