Fire and Ice - Smeared Ink DT

Hello Everyone!
Today I'm sharing 2 projects made for the December midway challenge post over at Smudgy Antics!

Both are digital art projects that combine the same digi stamp, Smeared Ink's Galaxy Girl with real photography.

Up first is FIRE
For this piece I used one of my 4th of July Fireworks photopgraphs on her body.  The hot fiery colours of the fireworks reminded me of a deep space nebula and I love the effect combined with the purples and blues I used in her hair and background.  I worked on her hair, the rings and the background in Photoshop CS6.

In contrast my second piece is called ICE
This time I used a nightscape photograph I took of the moon over Lake Mojave, Nevada, for her hair and did my digital work on her body, rings and background and incorporated lots of snowflakes for a magical effect.

I really enjoyed creating these two different projects using the same digi image and hope I've inspired you to come and play in what is potentially our last challenge over at Smudgy Antics!  We don't want the fun to end so come and show us how much you love Smeared Ink and show your support!

Happy Stamping!

Butterfly Goddess - Smeared Ink DT & Bday Card!

Howzit Everyone!
Just 22 sleeps 'til Santa comes, Woohoo ;0)

Today is a very special day, it's my Mom's birthday...HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!!! ;0)

Today I'm sharing the card I made for her and it's also my 2nd Smeared Ink DT inspiration project for the December challenge over at Smudgy Antics!

I used one of Smeared Ink's new digi images called Carpho!  She's a beautiful butterfly themed image!

I printed her out onto Neenah solar white cardstock and coloured her with Copics and added a touch of sparkle with a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.  The cardbase is a huge A4 folded card embossing folder I found in the UK at The Range, I lost the packaging so have no idea which company it is, anyone know?  I applied Brilliance Aurora tri-colour ink to the embossed design and embellished with crystal Stickles glitter glue, peach self-adhesive pearls, peach organza ribbon and paper Recollections flowers in 3 shades of orange.  I cut the image out, matted on an oval mat of peach cardstock, distressed the edges and adhered it to the card with Scotch Quick Dry adhesive.  I added another sheet of peach cardstock on the inside and stamped the sentiment by PSX in black Versafine ink.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget about the 12 Days of Creepmas blog hop hosted by Smeared Ink happening over on my DominoART blog this month!  Come hop with us every 2nd day for some creepy festive fun!

My FB Challenge DT project is another ATC featuring a snowman basking in the glow of a winter sun...I think he must be Olaf's cousin LOL ;0)

"Winter Holidays"
I used Carmen's Veranda Snowman and Three Trees

I used semi-gloss cardstock for my ATC and stamped the images with black Memento ink.  I stamped the snowman first, masked and then stamped the trees background.  I coloured everything with Copics and added highlights with a white gel pen.  I added lots of icy sparkle with crystal Stickles glitter glue and added dimensional sparkle to his red buttons and scarf with my Vive Pearl Magic Transparent White pen.  I completed my project by punching the 2 right hand corners with a decorative Marvy corner punch, matted the ATC onto red cardstock, used a corner rounder punch on that and then edged both the ATC and the mat with Stickles glitter glue coz you just can't have too much sparkle ;0)

Forever Dark Poinsettias!

Howzit Everyone!
Today is also the start of our new challenge over on our Forever Dark Challenge blog!
Challenge #7 is Anything Goes so come and enter your "DARK" projects for the chance to win a prize from our clawesome sponsor this month, IKE'S ART!

I had the absolute pleasure of creating with Ike's Poinsettia Fairy and made this mixed media Creepmas card for your inspiration!

I started out by printing her onto Neenah solar white cardstock and coloured her with Copics.  Of course I had to go dark with this one and had fun giving her a wintery skin tone, red eyes and black poinsettias!  Once she was complete I scanned her and finished the digi card in Photoshop CS6 by creating the foggy background, the oval frame and repeating the poinsettias along the bottom edge.

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you over at Forever Dark!

Day of the Dead Zentangled Skull - Smeared Ink DT project for Smudgy Antics!

Happy Sunday to you all!
I went to the Original Rubber Stamp convention held in Carson, Long Beach yesterday and had a blast shopping and checking out all the new stuff and came home with quite a stash of goodies.  I can't wait to play with it all :0)

We are now midway through our November challenge over at Smudgy Antics where it is always Anything Goes with an optional twist and this month is Metal Madness.  You can be inspired by the twist or just do whatever you want as long as your projects are on the dark side of stamping!

My midway inspiration for you is a Zentangled Day of the Dead skull.  I used Smeared Ink digi called Skull and Roses and I tangled flowers all over it.  Autumn has arrived in SoCal so and I was inspired to use a palette of yellows, oranges and peachy-reds on this one.

I printed the Skull and Roses digi out on Neenah solar white, tangled to my hearts content with black micron pens and coloured everything with Copics.   I used Derwent brown pastel pencil and a Dove Blender pen on the background and after punching the corners with a Marvy punch I applied Pumice Stone Distress Ink to the edges.  I used my Perfect Paper Layers tools to cut the mats out of black and orange cardstocks and everything was layered and adhered with Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive.

I hope I've inspired you to come and play with us over at Smudgy Antics, pop on over and see what fab eye candy my fellow teamies have to share too!
See you there ;0)

Day of the Dead tea light luminary - Lost Coast Designs DT project

Howzit Everyone!
We are now on Day 7 and the finale of our Day of the Dead Celebrations over at Lost Coast Portal to Creativity where Lost Coast Designs and Carmen's Veranda collide to bring you twice the inspiration and double the fun!  Come join us and follow our blog if you haven't already!
We have some amazing DOTD projects entered in our contest so far!  Our contest closes tonight at midnight PST so hurry in your entries for the chance to win a $15 spending spree to LCD/CV!  Add them to the linky collection on my finale post HERE!

I'm sharing 2 projects today, a fun mini tea light luminary here and an altered domino trinket box over on my DominoART blog!

Triangle Tea Light Luminary
I used the following Lost Coast Designs stamps
Black Nose Sugar Skull, White Nose Sugar Skull,  Sugar Skull With Flower
the lace border is part of the Picado Skull stamp

so pretty in the evening with the tea light glow
it really glows in complete darkness
Here's what it looks like in daylight!

3 sided luminary
This was a fairly easy project to do and they make fun little home decor gifts.

I started out by stamping the White Nose Sugar Skull in black StazOn ink on clear acetate overlay and applied Watermelon and Sunshine Yellow Ranger Adirondack Brights Alcohol Ink with an ink applicator to the opposite side.  To make the luminary frame I started with a the front window panel and cut the window to fit the skull and stamped the lacy border from the Picado Skull stamp with Aurora - tri-colour Brilliance ink.  Then adhered the acetate to the inside with double sided tape.  I then cut a double panel to form the other two sides of the triangular shaped luminary and stamped them with the other two sugar skull stamps and the lacy border.  The panels were scored on my scoreboard and the two end flaps adhered to the inside of the front panel with double sided tape.  I completed my luminary with metallic gold applied to all the edges with a gold Promarker.

Thanks for visiting with me today!

November Tangles

Hello Everyone!
I have resisted the "moustache' craze but when I saw the Movember kitty over at East Wind for their current challenge I couldn't resist any longer LOL!  I combined the EW kitty, their November newsletter freebie, with my own hand drawn Zentangle inspired pumpkins and created this Autumn themed card.

Update:  I'm pleased to say this card was picked as a Designer Favourite over at The East Wind
I coloured everything with Copics with white gel pen highlights.  The background is brown Derwent Pastel blended with Dove Blender pen.  The senti is stamped with 3 colours of VersaMagic and is from my rubber stamp version of the Zentangle inspired set called Autumn's Pencil.   Two smaller versions of my pumpkins are also part of the rubber set.  My set was originally designed exclusively for Smeared Ink and is now available through me until SI sets up their category for stamps by other artists again.  The two corners were punched with a Marvy punch and Pumice Stone Distress Ink applied to the edges of the card which was then layered onto black and orange cardstocsk.  The cardstock mats were cut with my Perfect Paper Layer tools.  The brown mat was embossed with Tim's clock Alterations embossing folder and the designed enhanced with Black Soot Distress Ink.

Gimme Candy - Forever Dark DT project

Howzit Everyone!
It's time for a new challenge over at Forever Dark Challenges!
As always it's anything goes as long as it is "DARK" whether it be light hearted, creepy cute or down right scary, all are welcome!

Our fabulous sponsor this month is

I had fun creating with Pop culture zombie girl!

This is another full on digital art piece created in Photoshop CS6 and Paper 53.
I started out by colouring the zombie girl on my iPad using a stylus and an awesome drawing application called Paper 53.  I had an absolute blast working on this piece although it took many many hours to complete.  Many people think it's faster and easier to create and colour digis in Photoshop but that's an incorrect assumption.  It actually takes way longer, images can take many hours and even days to colour before even getting to project assembly.  Once I was happy with my zombie I then moved over to Photoshop and completed my project with the addition of the text and background layers.
