February's Smeared and Smudged Member's Blog Hop: Cracked and Broken

Happy Thursday Everyone!
Today is our monthly Smeared and Smudged Member Hop and the theme for February is
Cracked and Broken!
Sit back, relax, hop and enjoy!

Cracked and Broken - without the rib cage overlay

I'm still in the Bloody Valentine mood so here's my interpretation of this month's theme!
My 3D paper arts piece is dark, twisty and portrays that having a broken heart feels like your rib cage has been cracked open and your broken heart exposed!

Cracked and Broken - with the rib cage overlay
Three cracked hearts from Smeared Ink's Heart Wings rubber stamp set with a transparency printed rib cage sourced off the web encasing the hearts and flanked by two mirror images of Girl 4 from Smeared Ink's the Other Side of Fear digis

Cracked and Broken - without the ribcage overlay
The hearts were stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and the girl was printed onto Neenah Solar White cardstock.  The images were all coloured with Copics and fussy cut out and the hearts have Inkssentials Matte Accents applied to just the cracked areas.  Everything was adhered with Scotch Quick Dry adhesive and the transparency overlay was attached with staples.  It was hard to photograph with the rib cage overlay, it does look quite effective with it on in person though!

You've got one more stop so I hope you've enjoyed our little hop and see you again for the March one!  Now off you go to see what Susan has for you!

Day 3 Finale: Grumpie Horde - Altered Dominoes

Happy Friday the 13th and welcome back for the 3rd and final day of Smeared Ink's
 BLOODY VALENTINE BLOG HOP 2015!

Thank you so much for hopping with me over the last 3 days and leaving me your wonderful compliments!  I've had an absolute blast and enjoyed all your dark and twisty Valentines too!  If you've already been hopping with us then you arrived here from Teresa's blog but if you'd like to start from the beginning then pop on over to Black Dragon's blog!  The blog hop roll is below my project and over there in my right sidebar!

UHO!  Watch out, there's a love sick Grumpie Horde creeping up on us in the dark!!!
Eeeek RUN!

Wanna Balloon?
Oh No!  One love sick grumpie has broken away from the horde and has headed over to the Smudgy Antics challenge blog where it's my turn to give you your daily dose of Smeared Ink DT inspiration!
Hopefully you'll get a better look at him when you pop on over there ;0)

Love Sick Grumpie hiding out at Smudgy Antics!
UHO!  It's chaos, yet another one has dashed off to my DominoART blog!  Looks like he's trying to entice you into joining my current DominoART challenge, the theme is HEARTS + Any Game Goes!  Pop on over and see if you can catch a glimpse of Love Hurts grumpie too ;0)

Love Hurts Grumpie hiding out at DominoART!
Thankfully two grumpies have stayed behind!  Here's a better look at these two cuties!
I used super-sized white dominoes to create my balloon toting horde which feature Smeared Ink's Love Lil Grumpies rubber stamp set.  The balloons I drew myself and the text on each one is also from the Love set!

Stalker and
I used Jet Black StazOn Ink to stamp the images onto the dominoes and heat set before colouring the images with various Sharpie markers using my signature Sharpie Domino Queen technique.  I edged and coloured the sides of each domino with a black Sharpie marker.  The balloons were drawn on Neenah Solar White cardstock and the text was stamped on each balloon with Tuxedo Black Memento ink before I coloured them with Copic markers.  The balloon string is black craft wire adhered to the backs of each domino and balloon and randomly bent and twirled for a fun and quirky look.  I took photos of the altered dominoes first before applying Judikins Diamond Glaze to protect the stamped surface because it's tricky to get a good photo without the glare on the glaze.

Off you go on the rest of the hop and don't forget to stop by both Smudgy Antics and DominoART to see more scary cute Love Grumpies!

Have a freaky fabulous weekend and see you again for Bloody Valentine 1016!

Day 2: "Love me or....." Valentine Card!

Welcome back for more dark and twisty Valentines!
We're on Day 2 of Smeared Ink's three day long
 BLOODY VALENTINE BLOG HOP 2015!

If you've already been hopping with us then you arrived here from Teresa's blog but if you'd like to start from the beginning then pop on over to Black Dragon's blog!  The blog hop roll is below my project and over there in my right sidebar!

Love me...or Die...Your Choice!
My share for today is a rather ominous Valentine...do you think they've got a "stalker" card section at Target?  But I don't think you'll need to dial 911 with this one, who can resist this cute lovable lil Grumpie offering his heart and a pretty rose balloon ;0)

The background with the rose is from my stamp set I designed for Smeared Ink called Autumn's Pencil and the Lil Grumpie is from the Love Lil Grumpies stamp set.

see, you've totally got a choice, nothing to worry about!
Both images were stamped twice onto Neenah Solar White cardstock in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, coloured with Copic markers and details and highlights added with a white gel pen.  The background was coloured with Fired Brick and Black Soot Distress Inks applied with a foam ink applicator.  The panel edges were distressed and left raw to contrast with the black card the panel is adhered to.  The rose balloon was cut out and curved to achieve the rounded 3D effect and adhered to the background with very thick 3D glue dots...I normally use dimensional silicone glue but discovered mine had crystallized inside the tube, damn, it was only half used too!  I coloured the background around the grumpie with black and red pastel pencils and blended with a Dove Blender pen before fussing cutting him out.  I also fussy cut out just his little antenna holding the heart and adhered the ends to his head with Scotch Quick Dry adhesive, curved the antenna and adhered the heart section with a another thick 3D glue dot.  I glued the ends of the balloon string under the balloon and Grumpie's heart.  For even more dimension I applied Judikins Diamond Glaze to the balloon, Grumpie's eyes and heart.  You can see all the fun dimensional elements in the pix below.  My ominous senti was made on my old fashioned Dymo Buddy label maker..."Your Choice" is inside the card.

all the cute little details - his eyes are purple but it doesn't show up so well
All fun and games aside...Seriously, stalking IS a crime so stop doing it immediately!

Thanks for hopping with me today :0)
Your next stop on the hop is Fiona!  See you again tomorrow for Day 3 of

Day 1: "The Other Side of A Broken Heart" Luminarie & Card - Bloody Valentine Blog Hop!

Hello Everyone!
What would Smeared and Smudged be without an event to celebrate Valentines Day - OUR WAY! Welcome to Day 1 of our annual three day long
 BLOODY VALENTINE BLOG HOP 2015!

"The Other Side of a Broken Heart"
We have 16 stampers participating this year and you arrived here from Teresa's blog!  If you just popped by my blog first today and would like to hop from the beginning or get lost along the way then you can find the entire blog hop roll below my project and over there in my right sidebar!

Candle luminary
Today I'm sharing a candle luminary with a matching card that would be the perfect inspirational gift for someone suffering from a broken heart!

Featuring Smeared Ink's Other Side of Fear digi stamps available in the SI store as both a set and as individual images!  The Winged Heart is from SI's Heart Wings rubber set.

Please click on the photos below to enlarge them for a better look!

Candle luminary
I designed the panels for the luminary and the matching double-sided card in Photoshop CS6 and printed them out on medium weight paper to give the luminary the look of parchment when the flameless candle is lit.  The panels were assembled into a square and adhered together with Scotch Quick Dry adhesive and then all the seams hidden under Tim Holtz Idea-ology "measuring tape" paper tape.  I applied Black Soot Distress Ink to edges of all the luminary panels and the card panel before adhering the double-sided card panel to black cardstock.  I scored and folded the card in half, added the same paper tape to the card spine and completed the design with 3 self-adhesive pearls I coloured black with my Copic marker.

Grandmaster Daily Planner - DT inspiration at Smudgy Antics!

Happy February Everyone!
YAY, I've re-joined the fabulous Smeared Ink design team and here's my project for my 1st DT post on their Smudgy Antics challenge blog where we now inspire you every day.  Smudgy Antics challenges are always "Anything Goes" so stop by and check us out if you haven't already done so!

Grandmaster Daily Planner

You all know me, I LOVE game related imagery so I just HAD to use Smeared Ink's new digis called Grandmaster to alter the cover of my 2015 daily planner.

The spread!
I designed the chessboard in Photoshop CS6 and skewed the perspective and then added the various Grandmaster imagery and altered the perspective on each one to fit the warped view of my chessboard.  The finished design was printed out onto white cardstock, adhered to the daily planner covered with double-sided tape.  The edges were distressed and Fired Brick and Black Soot Distress Inks applied to all the edges including the spine.  A touch of white gel pen detail was added to the Knight, which you can't see very well in the pix, but it's there and I added the year "2015" to the cover in metallic gold peel off stickers in various fonts to add to the quirkiness.  I just love my new daily planner!

The planner with the plastic protective sleeve on!
My favourite chess piece has always been the Knight so of course I HAD to feature it on the cover.

The back cover!
The King and Queen are glorious images too so they took center stage on the back cover!
I hope I've inspired you to come and play in our monthly Smudgy Antics challenges, see you there soon ;0)

Also, you don't want to miss our upcoming annual Bloody Valentine Blog Hop on Feb 11, 12 and 13!  It's always a wicked cool event with lots of amazing creations on view and you can read all about it here at More Smeared Ink!  Sign up deadline is Feb 9 so don't miss it!
