"First Sight" 3D paper art - The East Wind New Release!

Howzit Friends!
Today I'm sharing a 3D paper art project featuring The East Wind's new release digi called "Aurora's First Sight"!  Isn't she lovely!  She'll be up in the Etsy store later today.

Here she is ready for framing in a shadow box.  The flowers are fussy cut out and layered to create a 3D garden.  Some flowers have 2 layers and others have 3.

A closer look at Aurora.
I printed the image out 3 times onto Neenah solar white cardstock and then fussy cut out all the sections I wanted to layer.  The digi is coloured with Prismacolor pencils and the background is done with a Derwent pastel pencil blended with a Dove blender pen.

Above is a closer look at the flowers and below the photo gives you a better idea of the dimension.  I also added shimmery transparent dimensional drops to the tendrils, flower centers and the background corners with a Viva Pearl pen in magic transparent white.  I layered the finished piece first on black cardstock, then pink and then another sheet of black and now she's ready to be framed.

"Happy Vacation" Kinetic Card for The East Wind DT!

Howzit Everyone!
Our 2nd challenge for the month of September began today over at The East Wind Challenge blog.
Challenge #63 theme is "I Like to Move it, Move it" and I designed this fun kinetic card featuring TEW digi called Vacation.

Isn't she cute!  She's so very happy to be going on vacation she can't stand still.
Here's a little video clip showing the swinging movement of the girl holding her suitcase.

The photos below show the various back and forth positions of the movement too.

I also used one of The East Wind's background digis for my scene called Into the Woods

In Photoshop CS6 I enlarged the background digi quite a bit and then added the digi girl layer.  I erased the parts of the image that I didn't need and also drew in the missing parts of her skirt that would be revealed by the swinging action of her arms.  I then created an additional layer of the girl and erased everything except the areas I needed for the moving part of the image.  I also needed to draw in her hair on her left side.  I then printed everything out on Neenah solar white cardstock and coloured her with Copics and Prismacolor pencils.  I added  subtle colour to the background with Derwent Pastel pencils blended with a Dove blender pen.  I fussy cut out the girl, determined her placement and made a tiny hole in the background panel.  I then adhered a tiny brad to the girl and secured her to the background panel.  I matted the image onto black cardstock and then a folded card made from white cardstock.  I then completed my card with paper flowers and pearlescent green self adhesive pearls.

Here's a closer look at her, isn't she sweet!

"Once Upon A Tail" - Comic Strip for The East Wind

Happy Sunday!
Today I'm sharing a Comic Strip project for a Storybook Critters challenge going on over at Markers! Papers! Digis! Facebook group for the month of September.  A whole bunch of companies are sponsoring $1 digis for the challenge and The East Wind is one of the sponsors.  Unky created this fun cat and dog digi called Storybook Animals and it will be a $1 until Sept 30th so grab it quick and join the fun.

I had blast creating my little comic strip story.  I designed the comic strip cells in Photoshop CS6 and then added the digi parts and text.  I printed the comic strip out onto a full sheet of Neenah solar white cardstock and coloured it with Copics.  Here's a closer look at each scene.

"Keeper of the Sacred Flame" DT art piece for Delicious Doodles

Howzit Friends!
Our September Challenge over at Delicious Doodles is underway and the theme this month is "Orange and Brown".

I love reading about Pagan symbolism and long lost meanings of things we still do to this day and being inspired by them!  Here's my DT project for the DD challenge, I made an art piece featuring Teri's February Goddess Colouring Page - Imbolc.

Imbolc has various meanings and traditions depending on the cultures.  I can see where Teri was going with this design when I read about a Pagan holiday with a Celtic connection relating to the Irish goddess Brighid.  She is the keeper of the sacred flame and the guardian of home and hearth.  You honour her with purification and cleaning in preparation for the coming spring...hence our tradition of doing a "Spring Clean" was born.  In addition to fire, she is also a goddess connected to inspiration and creativity!

I printed this wonderful design out onto Neenah solar white cardstock and went to work with my Copics, Marvy Le Plume alcohol markers and Prismacolor pencils.

I distressed the edges with Tim's Paper Distresser tool and applied a touch of Tea Dye Distress Ink to the decorative frame.  I mounted the finished piece onto black cardstock, rust brown and then black again.  Now it's ready for framing.

Thanks for stopping by to see my project today and have a fabulous weekend!

"Full Moon" - The East Wind DT card!

Happy September to you all!
It's time for a new bi-monthly challenge over at The East Wind and today I'm sharing my DT inspiration card featuring today's new Newsletter Freebie digi called Borum and it will be up in the TEW Etsy store today!  Borum-dal means Full Moon in Korean.

The theme for our Sept 1-10 challenge is SHINE ON
http://theeastwindchallenge.blogspot.ca/2016/09/challenge-62-shine-september-1-10.html

I love incorporating my photography with my rubber and digi stamping art and knew immediately that I wanted to use one of my 4th of July Fireworks photos for the background of this joyful and whimsical image.  I started out by combining my photo with the digi and also added the sentiment text "SWING like there's no TOMORROW" in Photoshop CS6 and then printed out onto Neenah solar white cardstock.  I coloured the digi image with Prismacolor pencils and added touches of highlights with a white gel pen.  To keep the focus on the carefree "wide open sky" feeling of the piece I didn't add any embellishments and kept the layered mats narrow and simple.  I left a white border when I trimmed down the printout and matted it onto hot pink cardstock and then onto a folded card made from a sheet of black cardstock.
