Isn't he lovely!

The blue background was done in Photoshop CS6 and then I printed him out onto Neenah cardstock.  I coloured the image with Prismacolor pencils and the brown shadow background area is Prismacolor pencil too.

I had so much fun doing my Tartan Rose girl for our current challenge Paper Piecing that I decided to paper piece his t-shirt!  The paper is from the same paper pack I used for Tartan Rose too.

I used a simple geometric paper punch to add a touch of decoration to the corners and then matted the coloured panel onto green cardstock and then onto a folded card made from black cardstock.

"Tartan Rose" for The East Wind DT!

Howzit Friends!
We are halfway through August already and that means it's time for our 2nd challenge over at The East Wind!

Here's my DT inspiration featuring Tartan for
Challenge #61 "Paper Piecing"

"Paper Piecing", which I also know as "Paper Applique", is a technique where you remove a part of the image and replace it with decorative paper.  My "paper pieced" part is the lovely girl's dress and to keep with the theme of the digi stamp I used DP with a rose design in shades of blue and I also made a matching paper bow from the decorative paper too!  From the same DP pack I also used the colour coordinating stripe to pick up on the tartan theme too.  I've had this paper pack from Michaels in my stash forever!  I knew I was keeping it for something special, it was just made for this image ;0)

I coloured the lady with a combo of Copics and Prismacolor pencils and the roses just with Prismacolor pencils.  The background is a combination of brown and blue Derwent pastels blended with a Dove blender pen.

I printed the image twice and fussy cut out the lady I coloured and and layered her on top of the rose background with pop dots.  To create that dark shadow on her right side...I coloured the lady image underneath solid black and then slightly offset her when layering so that a bit of the black peeked out further enhancing the dimension.

I distressed the edges of the coloured panel and matted it onto black cardstock then the stripe DP and another layer of black.  I then completed my card with blue pearl jewels and embellished the bow with a matching jewel and Tim Holtz Idea-ology spinner for good measure!  Here's a closer look at the details....click on all the photos for a closer look.
