Steampunk Ella Sitting Pretty - InkStained Roni Altered Altoid Art Festival Blog Hop!

Hello Everyone!

Today we're celebrating my friend's 5th blog anniversary/birthday!   Congrats Roni on your awesome milestone!

Roni of Ink Stains is hosting an Altered Altoid Art Festival blog hop today!  See the linky collection below to continue on your altered tin hop and check out Roni's post about the event here!  She's giving away prizes so come and join the fun!

Here's my altered altoids tin contribution to the festivities.  I used two altoids tins, a regular one and a 'Smalls' one too, which Roni graciously provided for me to alter.

The star of my Steampunk themed tin is this gorgeous lady, Ella Sitting Pretty KG-041-T by Third Coast Rubber Stamps.  She's stamped on Strathmore Bristol Smooth heavy weight cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and fussy cut out.  I coloured her with the following Copic markers:
E000, 00, 01, 02, 13, 15, 43, V01, 06, BG02, 05, 07 and added some metallic gold details with a gel pen.

I applied Tim Holtz Idea-ology Nostalgic Tissue Tape to the bottom edges of both tins and cut up pieces of Ranger Inkssentials adhesive back silver foil tape sheets to the lids.  I used a stylus to draw attention to the word 'Smalls' and other details on the tins that I liked and the lid of a pen to impress 'faux' rivets into the metal.  I then applied Jet Black StazOn re-inker to a piece of Cut & Dry foam and covered all the metal areas and then buffed away most of the black so it stayed in all the grooves.

I then randomly applied Adirondack Alcohol Inks Current and Stream to both lids.  I adhered the small tin to the lid with E6000 adhesive and then Ella with Aleene's Fast Grab Glue with a pop dot behind her to prop her up.

I had a ball adding all the various Steampunk-esque embellishments to my altered tins and plan to keep this one on my desk with all my loose embellies tucked inside!  I finished off the look with screw head brads, with the arms removed, adhered to the sides of the larger tin.  I love it!  FYI:  a lot of these embellies and loads more goodies are available at SkyBluePink.com and Blockheads Paper Arts!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today!  I hope you're having loads of fun hopping around Roni's Blog Hop Art Festival ;0)  See the linky collection below to continue on your adventure!

Happy Stamping!

"Fox Riders" A White Shabby Chic Third Coast Card

Hello Everyone!

It's week 2 already of the White Shabby Chic challenge over at the Third Coast Creative Challenges Blog!

Here's my 2nd creation on the theme and hopefully provide you with some inspiration!  I encourage you all to give it a try and enter the challenge for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Third Coast Rubber Stamps!  You do need to use at least one Third Coast rubber stamp to be eligible for the prize!

Fox Riders
a White Shabby Chic card

I used Third Coast's fantasy image called Fox Riders FT-218-J as the focal point of my white shabby chic project this week.  The image was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on to a sheet of heavy weight Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock and fussy cut out with detail scissors.

The image was coloured with Copic markers E41, 43 and 44 and blended with the Colourless Blender.  I also removed colour with the Blender marker as well to achieve the vintage sepia tone effect.

I used an ornate pattern 5 x 7 Cuttlebug embossing folder from their Paper Lace II set to emboss the entire folded white card and layered an embossed mat with Cuttlebug's Stylized Flowers on to it.  Both the card and the mat edges were distressed with Tim's paper distresser tool to give the card the shabby feel.  I also added touches of Copic E41 to the daisy flowers and along the edges on the mat and faded it out with the Colourless Blender to add to the vintage feel.

I embellished the card with a piece of white netting my onions came in many moons ago and a white organza ribbon which I tied in a bow and crinkled with a quick zap of my heat gun.  I added two die cut Spellbinders leaves which I also treated with the Copics E41 and Colourless Blender and 3 sprigs of off-white pearls.  The Fox Riders were adhered with pop dots for even more dimension.  I love the wonderful play of shadows created by all the embossing and the varied layers which you can see in the photo above and adore the ethereal feeling of the finished piece!

Thanks for visiting with me today, I truly appreciate all your comments :0)

I'm entering Fox Riders in the following challenges:
Stampavie and More #181 - Swirls and Pearls
Simply Create Too #26 - Use Your Stash - Used the Net and Cardstock Scraps

"Believe in Christmas" CAS #2 for Blockheads Paper Arts!

Hello Everyone!

Christmas is fast approaching and if you say every year that you want to make all your cards months in advance and end up rushing at the last minute then here's the perfect solution for you!  Create some Clean and Simple cards that are quick to make, super fun and very elegant too!

Here's my second Clean and Simple project for Blockheads Paper Arts current Technique Challenge!
If you missed my first CAS card, which is the taller one, you can click on the photo above to go to that post.

"Believe in Christmas" CAS #2

This time I didn't go as minimalistic as my first CAS card!  I incorporated some layering, a touch of distressing and some dry embossing into my design.  But it's still definitely a CAS card ;0)
For more info on the Blockheads Technique Challenge please visit Karen's fab CAS Tutorial and check out my fellow design team mates projects as well as all the wonderful entries we've received so far by clicking on the thumbnail photos in the inlinkz collection below my project for today!
The challenge ends on Nov 21 so you've got just over a week to create and enter for a chance to win two awesome prizes.  Details below!

I used the same Blockheads medallion stamp from their Ancient Ornaments set and the lower case word 'believe' from the Verses full sheet for my design and stamped both in Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto white cardstock.   I drew in the line with a Copic Multiliner to turn the medallion into a hanging Christmas tree bauble.   This time I cut down the panel and distressed the edges with Tim's paper distresser tool and layered it onto a black mat.

I embossed an entire white folded card, front and back, with a snowflake design from Cuttlebug's Winter Wonderland embossing folder set and adhered the panel to the lower right hand corner.
For the finishing touch I added a bow made from red/white baker's twine for a dash of festive colour.

I hope you'll come and play with us over at Blockheads Paper Arts for the chance to win two awesome prizes!  You can enter the Blockheads Blog Hop part of the challenge and be in the running for a $25 gift certificate to their onlline store or share your creations on their Facebook page for the chance to win a 4 x 5.25 inch stamp set of your choice!

Check out all the details HERE and you can submit your entry into the blog hop by adding it to the inlinkz collection below or on the Blockheads blog!

I'm entering my CAS #2 card in the following challenges:
 Card Mania Challenges #7 Embossing
 House of Gilli #45 Celebrations

Hello Everyone!

It's Technique Challenge time again over at Blockheads Paper Arts!  This month we challenge you to create Clean and Simple (CAS) creations!  This technique is definitely a fan favourite but we know some of you really struggle too so don't worry coz Karen has a great CAS Tutorial for you and we, the design team, have some fabulous projects to inspire you too!  The challenge ends on Nov 21 so you've got plenty of time to play!

I've got two projects to share so far, one now and the other in a few days!  I've got a few more up my sleeve too so stay tuned ;0)

This one is "Believe in Christmas" CAS #1

I enjoyed being as minimalistic as possible with this one and clever with my image at the same time ;0)  I used a Blockheads medallion stamp from their Ancient Ornaments set and the word BELIEVE from the Verses full sheet for my design and stamped them in Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto a white folded blank card.

I drew in the line with a Copic Multiliner and turned the medallion image into a Christmas bauble...clever hey :0)  To give my design more of a festive feel I added the bow made from baker's twine.

So festive, so Clean and Simple and so much fun ;0)

I hope you'll come and play with us over at Blockheads Paper Arts for the chance to win two awesome prizes!  You can enter the Blockheads Blog Hop part of the challenge and be in the running for a $25 gift certificate to their onlline store or share your creations on their Facebook page for the chance to win a 4 x 5.25 inch stamp set of your choice!

'Time To Dance' A White Shabby Chic Challenge with Third Coast!

Hello Everyone!

I'm hosting the new challenge over at Third Coast Creative Challenges and this one is
White Shabby Chic!

Here's my project demonstrating the theme!  I hope you'll come join us for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Third Coast Rubber Stamps!

I enjoy playing with white on white layering of embossed and die cut cardstocks and particularly love the depth created by the play of shadows!  I used 3 different shades of white on this one!  You can have so much fun with this theme and its a great way to use up your off cuts from your cardstock stash too!

The background of my card is embossed with Tim's Bingo/Patchwork Texture Fade embossing folder with a narrow panel of embossed Cuttlebug daisies down the right hand side and attached with two white brads.  I also roughened the edges with Tim's paper distresser tool.  The large Weathered Clock die cut, Tim Holtz' Alterations, is layered on top with pop dots.  The image, May I have This Dance? (VB-239-P) by Third Coast, is stamped onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth heavy weight cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  I chose to add just a touch of Copic B23 and blended it with a Copic Colourless Blender.  I also added touches of B23 to the white paper daisies and diluted it with the Blender pen.  I completed the card by fussy cutting out the image and adhering it to the card with pop dots and added the daisies with craft glue.

I hope you'll come and play with me over at Third Coast Creative Challenges blog and enter TCCC#9 White Shabby Chic!  I'd also like to give you a heads up on the next two challenges for this year!

TCCC#10 Advent Calenders - either functional or the Xmas countdown can be the theme of your projects! 11/23 - 12/05

TCCC#11 Baby It's Cold Outside! Winter theme only + use Glitter! No Santas! 12/07 - 12/19

"Daenarys" GAME of THRONES Art Collage

Hello Everyone!

First I just want to send out best wishes to all my East Coat readers!  Be safe, you're in my prayers!

I'm hosting the new challenge over at the Third Coast Creative Challenge blog and this one is truly epic!  The theme is GAME of THRONES and I challenge you to create any kind of project based on the books by George RR Martin, A Song of Ice and Fire, and the HBO TV series based on the books, Game of Thrones!

If you're unfamiliar with the story then all you need to know is I'm looking for medieval and fantasy inspired imagery of dragons, sorcery, knights, kings and queens!

Here's my art collage I created for the challenge!  My inspiration for this piece is Daenerys.  She is one of the main characters in the books/series and with her is her horse and you can see one of her three dragons in the background.
ps:  Yes, I spelt her name wrong in my title but now I've linked up to some challenges and don't want to risk changing it :0(

All the stamps are from Third Coast Rubber Stamps.
Bromberrie's Web VW-019-N plays the part of Daenerys, Windswept CH-697-J is actually a Unicorn and I removed the horn by masking plus the Stone Castle on Cliffs CM-255-T, Zip (dragon) CH-705-C.

All the images were stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and collaged with the aide of a Stamp-a-ma-jig onto a sheet of Strathmore Bristol Smooth heavy weight cardstock.  I coloured the images with the following Copic markers:
E0000, E00, B01, C0, C3, W1, W3, W5. YR00, YR02 and YR09.  I added white highlights and white details to the images with a White Gel Pen and coloured the background with Derwent Pastel Orange and blended it with a Dove Blender Pen.

I scanned my art piece into Photoshop and completed the collage with some digital additions.  I could have added the darkened edges with Distress Inks but decided to use the Burn Tool to create the same effect.  Then finished off with black and variegated orange/red mats and frame.

Here's a closer at everything.

Daenerys has white hair so I used the white gel pen to give her beautiful white flowing hair.  I coloured the leaves in her hair so that they look like fire which is very fitting for the Mother of Dragons!  I also like the feeling of Fall radiating from my art too which is also fitting for the story theme coz Winter is Coming!

Thanks for visiting and I hope I've inspired you to come and play in my GAME of THRONES challenge!

I've entered Daenarys into the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamps Challenge - Autumn Leaves (my leaves are very Autumny)
Forever Night Challenges - #51 Use Orange/Black/Grey/Anything Goes
Opus Gluei Challenge #142 - I Leaf It Up to You - A Blog Hop - see linky collection below!
Great Impressions Stamps October Challenge - Fall
Addicted To Stamps Challenge 42 - Things with Wings

Happy Stamping!

Book of the Dead - Altered Game Art for the Dark & Twisty TCCC#7 Challenge!

Hello Everyone!

Woohoo, my project was the Gruesome Twosome at Haunted Design House :0)

I hope you're all enjoying the spooktacular altered game art eye candy being shared on my DominoART blog during our 31 Days of Halloween event plus the blog hopping going on for Smeared and Smudge's 31 Days of Halloween too!  If this is the first time you're hearing all about it then hop on your broomsticks and dash on over to DominoART for all the gorey details!

My project I'm sharing today is for the Third Coast Challenge I'm currently hosting called
TCCC#7 Dark & Twisty - A Macabre Halloween!
The challenge ends on Oct 24 at 7am!  So if you've got some Third Coast Stamps that fit the theme then hurry in your challenge entry for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate!

I had major surgery with some nasty complications on Oct 2 and its taken all my energy to keep up the posts on my DominoART blog's 31 Days of Halloween but I'm improving with each day and wanted to share this wicked cool project I made before my surgery!

Book of The Dead
Altered Rummy Tiles Project

All supplies are available at Blockheads Paper Arts
the sponsors of DominoART's 31 Days of Halloween grand prize!

All the rubber stamps are from
Third Coast Rubber Stamps!
Grave Digger FA-494-K, Tree of Dread sm VB-054-C, Halloween Queen VB-299-P, Pumpkin Princess VB-300-J, Batty for Halloween VB-291-P, Spider Web AP-522.

I used 2 Rummy tiles to make the cover for my book and drilled 2 holes into the top of each tile.
I coloured the 'back's of the tiles with the following Alcohol inks:
Earthtones - Slate, Lights - Lake Mist, Mixative - Silver and Mixatives - Snow Cap.  The sides and the 'fronts' of the tiles are coloured with a metallic silver Sharpie marker.  The images were all stamped with Jet Black StazOn ink and the surface sealed with Judikins Diamond Glaze.  The glaze actually changed the colour of the alcohol inks and made the brown hues appear!
I made the spiral wire embellies from silver wire and adhered them over the holes on the front cover with a dab of Judikins Diamond Glaze and added the Making Memories metal Randsom Letter D too.
I used Vellum Alphabet stickers by NRN Designs to form the rest of the word.

View of the back with the olive green ribbon threaded through the book and tied in a bow on the back.  The photos below show all the pages I made for my book.  I used white cardstock and tore the paper to make the pages and coloured them with Distress Inks Peeled Paint and Black Soot.  All the images were stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I created a little pocket on each page and stapled the sides of each pocket with a tiny staple.  Holes were punched through the top edge of each page with a pick tool.  The pages are hung on silver jump rings and inserted between the Rummy covers and the ribbon threaded through the jump rings holds the pages inside the book.

I plan to hand write spells on some tiny pieces of paper and/or tags and insert them into the page pockets to complete my project!

Thanks for visiting my blog today, now hop on your broomsticks and zoom on over to my Third Coast blog and enter the TCCC#7 Dark &Twisty challenge then back on over to DominoART to continue feasting your greedy eyes on the eye candy and blog hop your self silly with Smeared and Smudged!
