'Steampunk Caprica 6' a Third Coast Coterie project

Hello Everyone!

I'm hosting a new challenge at the Third Coast Creative Challenge blog and the theme is Steampunk Pink!  Before you dash off to start creating your entries check out my Steampunk Pink project titled "Steampunk Caprica 6"!

Some of you might get the title straight away but for those of you who aren't watchers of scifi-fantasy TV shows I shall explain ;0)  In the new version of Battlestar Galactica the Cylons evolved from robots into human-like cyborgs.  The main Cylon was model #6 and she was a blonde and there were a few versions of her and one of them became known as Caprica Six.  Now you see where I'm going with this one ;0)  However, I'm also a Firefly fan and I loved the Steampunk vibe of the series.  So my Steampunk project depicts what the #6 Cylon would have looked like if BSG had taken place in the Firefly universe...yes, this is the kind of thing that goes on in my head LOL ;0)

The use of the colour pink is dominant coz of the current Third Coast challenge of course and the star of the show is Third Coast's stamp called Geared Up (KG-058-X)!

The image was stamped 3 times with Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth heavy weight cardstock.  I added a lot of dimension to my project by layering sections of the stamped image and fussy cutting everything out.  All the layers were adhered in place with KoolTak clear foam tape.  I'm absolutely loving this new clear foam tape instead of using white or black pop dots!!!

I used the following Sketch Copic markers to do all the colouring:
Hair:  Y15, 17 and 38
Skin:  E0000 and 01
Lips/Eyeshadow:  RV10
Clothes:  V0000, RV10 and 13
Eyes and Glass areas:  B000 and 02
Steampunk leather and gears:  E11, 13, 15, 18, W3, 5, C3, 5 and 7.
Metallic details were added with gold and silver gel pens.

The two photos above show the layering details on the face and I attached a tiny brass jump ring to Caprica's ear to replace the stamped image of the earring.

I added even more dimension with all the pink paper roses (Treasures by Shabby Chic), sprigs of pearls (Kirklands), 4 black self-adhesive pearls (Recollections) and various gears and cogs (Tim Holtz Idea-ology, Bead Landing Found Object Charms and Skybluepink) and attached them with tiny brads in various metals.  The flourishes with leaves are segments from two dies by Cheery Lynn Designs (Fancy Flourish and Holly Flourish).

I made a folded card from white cardstock and cut the pink floral decorative mat slightly smaller and adhered a smaller decorative paper mat across the lower portion and distressed all the edges with Tim's paper distresser tool.   Both decorative papers are from the Tres Belle collection by My Mind's Eye.  I cut two lengths of black silky ribbon with a metallic gold design (Michaels) and adhered them in place over the seems and then adhered the stamped image to the card and added all the embellishments.  Everything was adhered in place with a combination of Scotch Quick-Dry Adhesive and Judikins Diamond Glaze

So have I inspired you to pull out all your pink supplies and get your Steampunk action on?  I hope so coz I'd like to invite you all to come play with me in the TCCC#4 Steampunk Pink challenge which begins Friday Aug 31!  See you over there soon ;0)
